But it wasn’t actually generic ‘resistance’ or ‘uplevelling’ that I experienced that day…
It was a specific storm of sentiment unexpressed that caused the strife and sabotage.
You see, I’m not what you see, what I show…
About the feminine Goddess of flowing gowns, perfectly pampered in a luxurious life…
She’s my Shero, my Muse, my Legacy, my Fairytale, my Mentor.
And it’s not that I’m not all that…it’s that I’m not solely that...
While I CAN BE soft, serene, sensuous and stylish, I can also be fierce, no frills,
with Olympic level force of Desire and Determination about what I stand for.
I don’t like showing that side of me…
…she feels a little heavy, unpoetic, masculine…and could turn you off…
I prefer to lead with love, I prefer to share my courage not my fear.
But I’ll admit I am frightened of dis-ease, poverty, war, social injustice, depression, miscommunication, ignorance, flying and…bad lighting.
And I am both haunted & indignant that:
*untold women, men and children WILL suffer beause they don’t know better
*teens WILL come home from school to a parent who had a fatal heartattack
*mothers WILL kiss their kids goodbye for the day not knowing it will be forever
So I channel my desire to for HEALING of myself and others into something beautiful…

I appreciate this more than you can know. This is the first time I am commenting here even though I have been reading for about 3 months. I truly appreciate understanding the depth of humanity – emotion, power, ferocity – that can live within the beautiful goddess – I appreciate knowing it is not one or the other. That we don’t have to choose. There is beauty and grace and there is anger and grief. We ARE ALL THAT.
I’ve been thiking about your post since I read it yesterday. So many of us were raised with the never let them see you sweat paradigm. It’s time to shift that. We don’t learn to be our most authentic and radiant selves by never experiencing challenges or trauma. We learn how to be our most authentic and radiant selves by going through it and emerging on the other side. This is what gives us a reason to connect and committ to others, so we can share the journey. Thank you for sharing your journey, Shakaya. It helps me to know it’s not all sunshine and roses for you.
