As a new business owner, I am EXCITED alot, and frustrated, too.
I am still working away on my detox program I mentioned in the last posts…in fact, its going to be AMAZING!
I have been taking my time so that I fully embody it before sharing it with you.
You will feel the love in this unique program and I promise it will be worth the wait!
In the meantime, I have something to share…a little confession of sorts.
I love my new business and want to learn all I can to make it a beautiful extension of my life.
It’s frustrating because even though I have been living an inspiring raw lifestyle for a decade and have SO much to share, compared to the business goddesess I admire, I sometimes feel I am just out of my league running my own business.
I’ve been feeling like I should be farther along, I don’t have the skills I need, and that everything I put out has to be perfect.
Having high standards is awesome, but I started to feel paralyzed by my perfectionism…
I was sharing about this horrible feeling one night before bed with my sweetheart, and I literally shifted in that conversation!
This isn’t about raw food, but raw emotions. I hope it helps free a few more perfection princesses go from Grrrrrrr to Purrrrrrr:

Dr Carolyn Dean looked over the WDD Guidebook for accuracy and also gave me an interview with her about how to detox safely from everything from coffee and candida to radiation. Her interview link is in the Guidebook. I was a bit thrown off because she started talking about how some people are ‘too toxic to detox’. That was not the message I had for World Detox Day! My message is that detox is a natural process of the body and that we can help it along by doing very simple things as outlined in the WDD Guidebook…but of course, as a medical and naturopathic doctor who has seen everything including very serious cases, she was wise to put that disclaimer in there. Wow, staying healthy is so much easier than getting healthy…Our ability to detoxify is a proven key factor to overall health and beauty!

HERE IS HOW I AM CELEBRATING WORLD DETOX DAY
I love to do Spring cleanses, don’t you? And its so FUN to be sharing this special day with YOU! And with everyone who has downloaded their copy of WDD guidebook which is over a thousand friends already, it feels like a PARTAY!
I started my morning today on World Detox Day very excited, and so was my whole family! I lay in bed setting my intention for today (to love my liver, slow down, and seek out and release any old anger towards myself or others in a pure bubble of love and forgiveness) then at 7:30 am I made a pitcher of Spa Water with orange and mint, which is a nice change from my regular lemon and ginger. The boys also had some yummy fresh fruit with lime and cinnamon. Last night I made a nice batch of nourishing Nettles infusion that is ready for today- I just adore its emerald hue, so healing and regenerating.
I walked my boys to school through the forest and did some barefooting on the way home (we still have SNOW). I practiced some primal movement, in which I slither around like a snake that really released my shoulders from all the computer work I have been doing in preparation for WDD (I will share about this amazing practice next time) and then spoke to a neighbour and brought her over some nettles to try, then answered emails and phone calls about WDD. It is now 11:30 am and I will post this and make a gorgeous green juice from organic kale, chard, bok choy and parsley STEMS and celery with green apples with mint, and drink that until dinner.
Dinner will be one of the soups from the WDD Guidebook- probably the spicy carrot soup as it was so delicious yesterday! I will also make a huge green salad for my family with cucumber, tomato, arugula, radiccio, dandelion, avocado and chick peas with garlic slices, lemon and olive oil and wakame seaweed with kelp powder. But I don’t think I will have any because for WDD I am doing a liquid day- except for perhaps a few bites of wakame because my boys will pick that out anyway! In the WDD guidebook, there is a Detox Quiz you can take which will help you to gauge how intense or gentle to make your detox program. One day isn’t enough, but it is a start! Keep it simple and find your sweet spot. I am going to ENJOY taking care of my lovely body-temple today with skin brushing and neti-pot and other natural methods I describe in my book Naked Beauty, and take the Cleopatra’s bath with my favorite Honey-lavender face and hair masque while imagining that I am floating in a blue spring river, as I ask for guidance and beam love to my world. Then I’ll freshen up my wardrobe and the bathroom drawers. I LOVE to declutter debris, and feel FREE. Renewal inside-out!
Tonight I will be blissed with another walk with my family after dinner, and then an early bedtime, around midnight, writing in my journal, praying for our brothers and sisters in Japan, and mediating that I am seaweed anchored to the bottom of the ocean and waving to and fro in the currents…ahhhhh, life is beautiful.

Spring is flirting and it seems doing a cleanse is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Well, that and Japan! Have you been part of the prayer wave sending to our brothers and sisters?
Mother Earth is sending us all a message. Now the nuclear reactors at Fukushima are melting down and we do not know exactly what the long term effects of this radiation leaks will be…

Taking superfood supplements and eating seaweeds (*kelp, dulse, nori, wakame, etc) and taking herbs such as ginseng and ashwaganda, plus chlorella (it has been shown to be able to remove heavy metal poisoning from our body), zeolites and fulvic acid and iodine, can help protect us from radiation. Vitamin C, magnesium and coconut butter can greatly boost our immune system.
Its more important than ever to do all you can to eat healthy, have a positive mindset, and detoxify!
As I promised in my last post, I have a little trick that I want to share with you to help reduce cravings, and get you ready for a detox.
I found out about this when I learned about the work of and later interviewed Donna Gates. I’m talking about benificial bacteria for your inner garden- micro flora that is the template for your immune system! Taking probiotics in pill form as a supplement can be very helpful. What I like to do, though, is to eat my probiotics!
I make batches of cultured veggies- saurkraut, beets and pickles- because they are rich in healthy bacteria. Life is all about the ying/yang balance of good and bad, and we need to keep our stores of ‘good guys’ up so they can keep any bad ones in check. And guess what- we are 90% bacterial organisms ourselves, so let’s get cozy with our healthy bacteria!
Fermenting veggies is fun and easy to do. And all long-lived cultures around the globe have one thing in common- fermented foods. Fermented food is the oldest form of food preservation. It is an efficient technology that has stood the test of time, improving digestibility of food and increased enzyme and nutrition making food even medicinal.
Fermenting veggies like cabbage and beets and cauliflower and carrots are a wonderful thing during winter when buying imported lettuce for salads is too heavy footprint, and also helps us digest cooked foods and heavier winter fare.
In the summer, using garden fresh cucumbers and dill to make homemade pickles is a tradition my family loves- my boys don’t eat my other fermented veggies but they do like the pickles! And I love that they are aquiring a taste for sour foods.
Soured, fermented foods help to rebalance our system and can even cut down on cravings. THIS is why I like to enjoy them right before I am planning a Detox! Cultured vegetables are available commercially at most natural foods stores but I find them a bit pricey and prefer to make them myself now that I know how. It is fun and easy.
Here is a recipe I have been making every couple weeks:
INGREDIENTS:
1 cabbage, red or white, Nappa or mixture as the base- organic is best1 head cauliflower2 lbs carrots2 lbs daikon2 lbs turnips1 head of garlic 2″ ginger peeled
Many veggies can be cultured with great success for more nutrition and digestibility. You can use beets which are great for the liver, sea veggies like wakame and arame, kale, collards, apple or red pepper, or other radishes besides daikon (but I haven’t tried these yet)
Spices and dried herbs add something special: I like caraway seeds, chili flakes, garlic and ginger. Celery juice makes a great brine too. But to just get started, go basic and just try cabbage and water with salt so you get comfy with this first before experimenting.
Clean all vegetables well and then chop or use a food processor to shred everything. Mix vegetables in a bowl. Pack vegetable mix tightly into glass jar(s). When the jars are full with about 1 -2 inches room at the top, use a wooden spoon to pound the mixture down and then add some more. Always leave 1-2 inches at the top of the jar so the fermented veggies have room to expand. I use 2 quart size jars. Then you add liquid or brine which is a mixture of good quality Celtic or Himalayan salt, about 2 T, and water. I also add a few leaves of cabbage that were from the outside that I could have thrown away, instead they help take up the space at the top and still leave room for expansion.

Pour brine over the veggies, leaving breathing room for expansion. Cap tightly and leave at room temp for 2-4 days, then move to the refrigerator for storage. I ‘check in’ every day and release the cap to let the built up fermentation gases escape, and re-seal air-tight.
Note: Donna recommends using a ‘starter’ of probiotics- I do this when I have them in the house, but it turns out well without it.
These keep very well and are great to have on hand in the fridge. You can eat them alone as a condiment, or add them to salads, sprouted tortilla wraps, etc. I love them with a little olive oil, some turmeric and dulse sprinkled over tip, with avocado. I munch happily away with my chopsticks. In-Joy!

Spring is coming and bringing fresh energy of Nature, and our nature, as everything in our being starts to open up to new life. I look forward to this time of year with a ritual.

Detoxing in Spring has been a practice I’ve explored for 2 decades. Heightened awareness comes with lightening up and letting go of clutter- internal and external.
Ahhh, a natural high.
Just imagine, releasing old stuff like a snake shedding its skin and discovering a fresh, soft, new YOU bursting forth.
If you have been hibernating and possibly hiding out behind bulky clothes, staying indoors, and too many treats, you might be ready for some serious bursting forth…
Then again, you may not be. Sometimes, when we get in a rut, it feels almost impossible to escape. Being a mom and/or business tycoon can really take it out of a girl!
Transform yourself body, mind and spirit
Do you want to look and feel like the woman you used to be pre-babies and marriage and overwork when you used to actually have time to take care of yourself? Did you know that most people believe they are postive but through simple tests and games it has been shown that most people are actually negative in their orientation to life. For example, list a dozen things you love about yourself within 30 seconds…Was it harder than you thought?
When I interviewed one of my favorite authors Sonia Choquette who wrote Trust Your Vibes, she said that most people are trying to control the Universe because they just don’t realise how playful and creative it really is. When I interviewed one of The Secret speakers and best-selling author Marci Shimoff (I don’t mean to be name-dropping ;0) she mentioned what Einstein said about the fundamental question to ask ourselves is whether we believe the Universe is a friendly place or not?
I definately fall on the side of the dreamer but am constantly surprised at how negativity can sneak up on me. And, although being a dreamer is more positive than being an outright doubter, if one isn’t grounded, the dreams often can’t take root. Taking exquisite care of your body through a powerful detox is a way to ground yourself. This will not only cleanse and lighten you but give you magnetism as well- which means that you not only receive results through your actions, you will also ATTRACT incredible results!
Being a conscious Mom, wife and spiritual entrepraneur all requires alot of focus and dedication. So I love to create moments of beauty and fantasy for myself and others to enjoy because every woman is special and deserves her own Fairytale…
For this photoshoot, I literally wrapped a 30 feet piece of fabric around me to make it look like a goddessy gown, and I played in the wind and the cold adding color and magic to my last days of winter.
It was alot of fun for me and I hope it inspires you to create moments of beauty and wonder in your life.

As well, I’ve been dancing in the delight of continued hands-on motherhood, couplehood, WITH a new business AND new book- which, btw I might have a publisher for- fingers crossed…and I will tell you WHOOOOOOOOOO its a rush!
If it weren’t for my AWEMAZING diet, I honestly don’t know how I would keep up
But even I will admit I do my fair share of cheating in the winter and over the holidays- at least by my own standards. Not to mention, my sleep and exercise isn’t consistent at all…So, I am wondering how you are doing and if you are feeling a little less sparkly yourself these days..?

Chrsitine is changing the current definition of self love in the dictionary which is ‘vanity, conceit and narcissim’- yikes! no wonder we all find it difficult to truly love ourselves- and take care of ourselves- without guilt!
You may remember my interview with Christine last year at the first WISH event I co-created. We actually had all the speaker’s lined up, and then somehow I stumbled upon Christine and knew I just HAD to include her because her message is so poignant. And her talk was the most personally riveting interview for me as I suddenly was made aware of the distinction between self-esteem and self-love…what an interesting and vital concept to explore, and I have been ever since.
Christine says we deserve to fall madly in love with ourself!
She asked me to be one of her Self Love Ambassadors and I am thrilled to spread the word and give wings to this incredible movement.
